Osteopathy
Osteopathy is an alternative medicine based on the belief that various body parts (muscles, bones, ligaments, organs, fascia etc.) are working all together in order to maintain good health. Therefore, if one of these elements is not functioning in the right way, the other ones can slowly get altered. For example, if L5 (5th lumbar vertebra) is locked, it’s very likely that after some time, it will result in an inflammation of the sciatic nerve, and cause pain in the leg. Some digestive problems are also likely afterwards, since L5 nervous root is a part of a plexus that innervates digestive system.
The aim of an osteopath is to help the body using the tools the body already owns but that don’t function in the right way, in order to get back to a good balance. The osteopathic treatment consists in a series of manipulations on different parts picked up according to the patient condition. For pregnant women and new born, only soft manipulations will be used.

How can osteopathy help women?

Before pregnancy
Osteopathy can be useful in the case of idiopathic infertility. When all the fertility exams are normal, the osteopath can rebalance the gynaecologic system in order to ease the fecundation and the implantation processes.

During pregnancy
Osteopathy can help women dealing with pregnancy side effects such as sciatic, lower back or pains induced due to contracted uterus. It’s also a good tool to prepare the body to birth by relaxing the pelvic muscles and ligaments, and unlocking the pelvic bones. Doing that will improve their movement capacity during birth and ease the baby’s passage.Osteopathy will also have an action on hormonal balance, preparing the body for easy breast feeding.

After pregnancy
Osteopathy is a good tool to correct the dysfunctions that may have been caused by pregnancy, in order to come back to a healthy body balance. The osteopath can also work on C section scars, so that they won’t induce future problems or pains. For women with shortage of milk, osteopathy can help rebalancing the hormonal system.

How can osteopathy help new born?
Osteopathy can help baby with conditions such as torticollis, colic, sleeping problems, plagiocephaly, reflux, sucking issues, chronic ear and throat infections.
