About DOUM  

The way we are born, the way we give birth and our infancy has a deep effect on our lives.  As a couple of women who believe the importance of this, we came together in year 2008. Our aim was to bring care and compassion to pregnancy, birth and postpartum and support families in the way that they deserve. On February 2011 we opened our center in Emirgan and started to offer childbirth classes, yoga classes, consultancy sessions and doula services to the families in Turkish and English. In time our family expanded when other specialists joined us so our services became much more varied. To reach the families who live out of Istanbul we train doulas from different parts of Turkey and we can send our published books, CDs and DVDs.

As much as we bring care and compassion to birth, we are more aware to get deeper in our humanly experiences and transitions in life. Our intention is to improve our capacity of inner journey by offering several services and workshops in cooperation with local and foreign experts. Some of our diverse services are; Conscious Medicine, From Anxiety to Relaxation, Soul Integration, First Aid, Helping Babies to Breath, Family Constellation, Shamanic Journey, Massage workshops, EFT, etc.

We consider certain principals in all our work we do;

• We work in small groups to give personal attention and spend quality time with everyone.

• We present independent, unbiased and evidence-based information.

• We believe each mother and baby are unique, each pregnancy and birth too.

• We respect and support each person and families’ preferences and choices.

• Privacy and Confidentiality are also supported strongly

• We don’t offer medical service.

• Our space and working style is based on trust. Our door is fully open to welcome everyone.
